John, laird of Buchanan and Lenny,

had three sons, who came to age:

1. The eldest, Sir Alexander, who killed the duke of Clarence at the battle of Bauge, was also himself afterwards killed at the battle of Vernoil, anno 1424, being never married.
2. The second was Sir Walter, who succeeded to the estate of Buchanon; and
3. The third, John, during his father’s lifetime, designated of Ballachondachy, and who did, after his father’s death, succeed to the estate of Lenny, as the tree of Buchanan, and some other evidents among those of Buchanan testify. …
