Notes for William GORDON Of Tillytarmont
John married Elizabeth Maitland (called by some writers Margaret), daughter of Robert Maitland of Netherdale, and

had issue by her, three sons:

1. John, ancestor of the Gordons of Pitlurg, etc.

2. William, ancestor of Lesmoir, Craig, etc.

3. James who is claimed as the ancestor of the Gordons of Haddo, Earls of Aberdeen, etc.

John Gordon had also the natural sons:

Alexander, who is probably the Alexander said to be his son by a handfasting union with a daughter of Macleod of Harris, ancestor of the Gordons of Buckie, and

Adam, of whom nothing is certainly known.
